Travelling in different places

12 Days of Incredible Indochina – 2

I’m here again to continue my article.  Are you still there?

They stayed at Narin Guesthouse 2, and they took a fan twin room which costs only US$ 5.  The accommodations, even the food were really so cheap.

The restaurant where they had dinner that night offered them a clay pot soup (steam boat), beef and seafood on a mountain, vegetables, and Angkor Beer that was mild and so good.

After breakfast the next day, they took a big bus bound for Ho Chi Mihn City in Vietnam.  The roads were just flattened soil and dusty.  Houses were highly elevated with slim cement posts and roofs made either of clay bricks, galvanized steel, or nipa.

They stopped at Neakleoung Ferry area where there were a few local vendors selling sunglasses, breads and baguettes, noodles, sweet green mangoes, bottled water, lotus seeds, and even exotic crickets and fried chicks.  After a short while, the bus transferred to a barge along the Mekong River.

She discovered that only Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Laos are visa-exempted to Cambodia.  The rest of the countries have to secure a vista costing around US$ 20-25.  They left Phnom Penh at 7 am and reached Saigon past 4 pm.

They went straight to the Binli Than Market and shopped for a polo for US$ 5, a T-shirt for US$ 3, and a bag for US$ 5.  She also bought a painting of a Saigon lady for US$ 9.

They checked in at the same Narin guest house and went to Sorya Mall afterwards.  At the food court, they have to buy a coupon first at the entrance in order to make a purchase.  She first bought a dessert that looked like slices nata de coco  with coconut milk.  Later, she thought some noodle soup with liver (soup dala) and bread.  It all cost 5,000 riel.
